On Saturday 21st October, we visited your Hotel for a joint 21st birthday bash. We wish to complain about the disgraceful service we received and poor quality food.
We reserved the party room from 7:30pm - 12:00am a week in advance. We arrived early so we could setup. We were told that it was going to be empty from 6:00pm but it was not. When we checked in, the staff ignored us and did not help us or offer us a trolley to take our stuff to our room. The room was a mess. There was rubbish and mouldy food in the provided fridge. The beds had stains all over them, they had sand and grit beneath the quilt.
When we entered the party room a party was in progress and the sign said it would be going on till 12:00 o’clock. Our friends started to arrive at 8:00pm and the manager had still not spoken to us. We wait 1 hour before we were put into the smoking area of the bar at 9:00pm. Where we had the company of three drunk men who were smoking this was unhelpful as our friend was asthmatic. Our buffet arrived 1 hour late. When they served us they carelessly dumped any food on our plates we didn’t get any choice. The salad was rotting, the kebabs were uncooked and the waiters used verbal abuse towards us. Eventually the bar maids arrived and refused to serve us. The drinks were vile and we were told there was no alcohol in stock.
We decided not to stay and left at 10:30pm. We walked passed the party room and saw people arriving for a large ball dance. The was alcohol and well prepared food. The staff were pleasant and polite. We left immediately.
Our relatives have been to this hotel many times and have thoroughly enjoyed their selves. We chose The Royal Shankly Hotel because it was supposed to be number1 hotel in Liverpool but now we disagree. We would like to know why we were treated in a different way to the other customers. We have enclosed the bill with this letter and wish to have a full refund during this week.
On Monday 18th November we travelled to your pub, to have a lovely meal to celebrate our mother’s birthday.
We are complaining about the poor service we were given. We booked a table for eight members or the family and resized a table for three which was squished in the corner of the pub, when there were plenty of other tables available.
The pub was filthy and had old glasses scattered around the tables, which must have been there for a while, as they were literally stuck to the table.
However anyway, we sat down and ordered our meal and drinks, which was not a wide choice of incidentally. We were horrified that it did not arrive until an hour and a half later. When we asked the waitress she replied rudely that they were very busy that night. This astounded us because apart from the pub cat the pub was empty!
When the food arrived the chips were burnt and our mother’s soup was stone cold. Once we had finished our food are plates were took.
We did not stay for pudding as it was already shambles . When we left no one acknowledge that we were leaving.
We were very alarmed about the about the poor service we received and we hope that you will look into the matter, and offer us a full refund.
Yours sincerely,
Miss .S Moulder and Miss .J Grimes
On Monday 27th November I visited your restaurant for my 10th birthday party. I am complaining about the low quality food we were provided with and the appalling service the waiter gave us.
We arrived at 4:00pm, we didn’t sit down until 4:45pm, when we did sit down we were squeezed into a tiny corner table that was not cleaned from the last person that ate there, the table that we were on only held four although I had booked it for eight. We called the waiter to order some drinks and food, twenty minutes past and he eventually came, he was rude and so appalling.
When are starter came forty minuets later the nachos and cheese I ordered for eight of us couldn’t even feed four , the nachos were burnt and the cheese was almost mouldy. Then twenty minutes later the food and drinks came, the coke we ordered was stale and warm, the chips were burnt, the fish was still frozen, the pizza was half cooked and the salad was rotting. But the worst thing about it was a grown up group on a table next to us came in after us but got took to there table before ,they also had better food.
We think you should give us a full refund, and improve your services towards younger customers; you can’t ignore this letter because my farther provides your company with food and can easily stop.
On Monday the 16th November my friends and I travelled to
your restaurant, for my birthday. I booked a week in advance
and I booked a table for eight in the “ ANYTHING GOES”
Party room.
When we arrived we had to wait in a line until we got to the
Reception. Half an hour later we eventually got to the recap-
tion and I asked the receptionist which way was it to the party
room, he said that they didn’t allow pesky little children in
the party room. So we told him that we had the passes to go
to the party room. Eventually he let us go in but he took us to
a table which had five chairs at the table, we needed eight so
he split us up to two tables that were far away from each
other. Fifteen minutes later a waitress came, she
asked us very rudely what it was we wanted to eat.
We requested our orders and she wrote them down on her
note pad and said, “You’re lucky I am doing , this because if
the manager hadn’t told me to do it then I wouldn’t!” Then
she stomped out of the room.
Forty-five minuets later another waitress
came with our food on an old rusty food trolley. She handed
the plates with old dirty washing-up gloves, then she to
dropped my plate on the floor so I had to wait another fifteen
minutes for a plate for my food!
When we all eventually ate our food we
found out that the fish was raw and that the chips were burnt
black, then when we had our drinks they gave us white wine
instead of lemonade. Being under 18 years old, we felt that this was a serious
mistake on your behalf.
Please can I have a full refund because the food was appalling and the service
was a shambles, the white wine situation was so out of order I almost fell off
my chair when I tasted it, my parents were so badly shocked that I had drunk
white wine.
Yours sincerely
On 22nd January, we went to your restaurant to have an ordered meal for eight for my birthday however the food was in a dreadful state.
We booked for 6.00 p.m. but we sat down at 6.30 p.m. we ordered for an 8 seated table but we only got a 5 seated table .There were left overs on the table and there was chewing gum under the table.
For statures we had was garlic bread and soup, the garlic bread was mouldy and without any garlic on and the soup was cold. The waitresses were rood to us when serving.
We had 3 fish that were frozen, 5 pizzas that were over cooked and hardened the courgettes on top were roar but the other vegetables were okay.
For drinks instead of sparkling water we had leman aid, and the children had apple juice.
All of us had ice cream that was like cream, and the little sweats that you put on top were all stuck together.
On the 4th of July 2006 I came to your restaurant. I waited for an hour when we could have been waiting for a minute.
We asked for a table of 8 but got a table of 6 when there where plenty of empty tables. The room was filthy and the plant by the window was clasping on me. We ordered at 5.00 but we got given it at 5.30.
We where 1st in line but the adults where 2nd in line but they got seated first. Our food was cold,
Stale, hard and chewy. We wanted a nice clean table but we got was absolutely filthy, and not even clean it still had last nights remands on it.
And the food was dumped in front of us. There was no pudding or starter meal. The waiters couldn’t spell or read there were no menus or salt & vinegar…
We hope your serves get better. For my next Birthday I might come back if the restraint is cleaner. I want a refund.
On the 21st July, me and my friends went to your restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We arrived at 6.00pm and sat down at 6.30pm we ordered at 6.45pm and the food came at 7.15pm. The waitress was rude and didn’t listen to what we had to say.
We were waiting for half an hour, there was poor service. We booked a table for eight and we were given a table for three, on our table was last nights left over’s. Our table cloth was covered with stains, and crumbs were still left on the table.
When the food arrived the chips were green, cold and moldy the fizzy drink wasn’t fizzy.
My parents always goes to your restaurant they love it. But me and my friends was really disappointed with your service, when I told my parents what poor service you gave us they told everyone. So if you don’t have any customers its because is my mum that told everyone what you did to us.
We want a free meal or our money back from our offal service, and would like to know why the service was so a shamble.
Your sincerely,
Miss M. Angell and Master W. Leviseur
On the 20th June, me and a group of friends visited your restaurant, to celebrate my friends 11th birthday. We are complaining about the terrible services.
I had a booked table for 10 people by the window, unfortunately in half an hour, I received a table in the corner of the room, which had only seven seats, so we took three seats from a spare table so we were squashed. It had last nights crumbs on it.
We ordered two large pizzas and chips at 12:30 and it arrived at 1:15pm.The chips were crispy and the pizza was half frozen and we only received one pizza. When we received the food the waitress dropped the chips, so the waitress picked them up and served them to us.
After our dinner we ordered ten bowls of ice-cream with allsorts on it, instead we were served melted, plain ice-cream with half the orders. When we ordered drinks the cups were leaking, the drinks were spilt every where. We ordered three cokes, two lemonades, and five cups of apple juice; instead we were served flat coke and lemonades and four cups of apple juice, and the person who was left was the birthday girl, she was very upset.
We think you should give us back our money, and change your services, and the state of your rooms, because our parents co here and order it later than us.
Dear Mr Jones,
On 3rd September me and my friend’s went to your restaurant at 4.30. And we booked for 7. We ordered to have a nice meal. But we were given a cold pizza and the cheese was not cooked.
We were also put in the corner of the restaurant on the table that was not cleared. There were things from a long time ago. It was not nice.
Out of the window we saw lots of things like the leftover’s excepted the stuff on the table’s.
I am writing this to help your restaurant by making it more exciting and fun and good for adults and children. Make the food be well done.
Your sincerely
Katherine Appleby
On the 3rd October, I visited your restaurant for my 11th birthday celebration. I had booked a table for six and was apparelled at the poor service and low quality food.
First when we entered we were immediately shown to our table for four, we told the waitress that we had booked a table for six. So she pulled out two chairs and placed them all squashed together. Then we were served half an hour after we arrived. When we got served we ask if oats, wheat or gluten was in one of the meals and then when we received the meal we fond traces of oats so we had the meal taken back and replaced with salad.
When we ordered our pudding, we ordered ice cream Sunday we ended up with a melon and lime sorbets. We ask the waitress why we didn’t get the correct pudding she just said I don’t know.
You were one of the top ten restaurants in the town. My parents come hear regularly and say the survive is brilliant, witch is why we chose the restaurant to come to, and the restaurant down the street. We feel the way you treated us is unacceptable. I am expecting a full refund.

Dear Katie A
The following letter has been modified by
Stephanie U.R. & Sarah M.
P.S. We liked the bit about the food being thrown out the windows.
Dear Mr. Jones,
On Friday 3rd September my friends and I came to your restaurant at 4.30pm. We booked a table for seven. We ordered a nice meal. But we were served a cold pizza and chips that were frozen.
We were also put in the corner of the restaurant on the table that had not been cleared. The things were obviously from a long time ago. It was appalling.
When we looked out of the window we saw lots of leftovers that had been chucked on to the streets from the tables inside the restaurant.
I was shocked when I heard my family talking about the wonderful meal and polite service they had received when visiting your restaurant.
I am writing to complain about the disgraceful service that we received from your restaurant staff. I would like a full refund because of the inconvenience caused and the poor service we experienced.
Dear Jess and Steph M,
I have modified your letter of complaint and this is what it looks like, I hope you like it.
Dear Mr. Walton,
On Monday 18th November we travelled to your pub, to have a lovely meal to celebrate our mother’s birthday.
We are complaining about the poor service we were given. We booked a table for eight members of the family and we had to resize a table by ourselves that could only seat three pupils which was squished in the corner of the pub, when there were plenty of other tables available.
The pub was filthy and had old glasses scattered around the tables, which must have been there for a while, as they were literally stuck to the table.
However, we sat down and ordered our meal and drinks, which was not a wide choice of incidentally. We were horrified that it did not arrive until an hour and a half later. When we asked the waitress she replied rudely that they were very busy that night. This astounded us because apart from the pub cat the pub was empty!.

We did not stay for pudding as it was already shambles . When we left no one acknowledge that we were leaving.
We were very alarmed about the about the poor service we received and we hope that you will look into the matter, and offer us a full refund.
Yours sincerely,

On Monday the 16th November my friends and I travelled to
your restaurant, for my birthday. I booked a week in advance
and I booked a table for eight in the “ANYTHING GOES”
Party room.
When we arrived we had to wait in a line until we got to the
Reception. Half an hour later we eventually got to the reception
and I asked the receptionist which way was it to the party
room, receptionist said that they didn’t allow pesky little children in
the party room. So we told him that we had the passes to go
to the party room. Eventually he let us go in but he took us to
a table which had five chairs, we needed eight so he split us up to two tables that were far away from each other. Fifteen minutes later a waitress came, she
asked us very rudely. What do you want to eat?
We requested our orders and she wrote them down on her
note pad and said, “You’re lucky I am doing this because if
the manager hadn’t told me to do it then I wouldn’t!” Then
she stomped out of the room.
Forty-five minuets later another waitress
came with our food on an old rusty food trolley. She handed
the plates with old dirty washing-up gloves, then she
dropped my plate on the floor so I had to wait another fifteen
minutes for a plate for my food!
When we all eventually ate our food we
found out that the fish was raw and that the chips were burnt
black, then when we had our drinks they gave us white wine
instead of lemonade. Being under 18 years old, we felt that this was a serious
mistake on your behalf.

Dear Mr. Grills,
On Saturday 21st October, we visited your Hotel for a joint 21st birthday bash.
Yours sincerely,
Miss K. Petford
&
Miss S. Upton-Roddy
Dear Mr. Walton,
On Monday 18th November we travelled to your pub, to have a lovely meal to celebrate our mother’s birthday.
Dear Sir, Madam
You’re sincerely

Dear Sir/Madam,
On Monday the 16th November my friends and I travelled to
your restaurant, for my birthday.

Yours faithfully

Dear Mr. Jones,
On the 21st July, me and my friends went to your restaurant to celebrate my birthday.

Dear Sir or Madam,
On the 20th June, me and a group of friends visited your restaurant, to celebrate my friends 11th birthday.
Yours sincerely

Yours sincerely,

We were very alarmed about the about the poor service we received and we hope that you will look into the matter, and offer us a full refund.
Yours sincerely,
Miss .S Moulder and Miss .J Grimes
Dear Sir/Madam
modified by katie and Jess
Please can I have a full refund because the food was appalling and the service
was a shambles, the white wine situation was so out of order I almost fell off
my chair when I tasted it my parents were so badly shocked that I had drunk
white wine.
Yours faithfully
Miss .L. Bowen
